Banned Books Week Hop

Welcome to Banned Books Week Hop!
"Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held during the last week of September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States."

The ALA has listed some books which have been banned or challenged in one way or another.
The top books challenged in 2010 were...
1) And Tango Makes Three, by Peter Parnell and Justin Richardson; 2) The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, by Sherman Alexie; 3) Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley; 4) Crank, by Ellen Hopkins; 5) The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins; 6) Lush, by Natasha Friend; 7) What My Mother Doesn't Know, by Sonya Sones; 8) Nickel and Dimed, by Barbara Ehrenreich; 9) Revolutionary Voices, edited by Amy Sonnie; 10) Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer

  1. I ran a bookstore during the '80s and early '90s when our competitor, Waldenbooks, did their "I read banned books" promotion. I was also sued by The Citizens for Decency with my bookstore because we carried JOY OF LESBIAN SEX, so this is an issue I'm passionate about. Thanks! BTW, I'm soooo Team Edward. LOL
