My take:
I was so excited when Giles Paley-Philip contacted me asking me to read his book The Fearsome Beastie. I had never done a review on a childrens book before so I thought
'What the heck, lets do this!'
So I decided to get some help from true experts in this....my daughters!

Kaleigh, age 11: The story was pretty good. It was a little gory at times. My favorite part was when Gran cut him in half.

Emma, age 9: I loved it. But it was kind of scary. My favorite part was when it said "She owns a giant woodan's axe (chopping wood helps her relax)."

Hanna, age 4: I like the book and want you to read it again! Hanna said her favorite part was when Gran made Beastie Stew!

A tale of a beastie that comes to town in search for its next meal: little kids! After tricking the kids into thinking all he wants is a friend, he eats all but one child who runs off to warn old Gran. Gran finds the wolf and saves the children from the wolf's belly. And of course everyone heads home to enjoy a piping, hot bowl of Beastie Stew.
What did I think? I liked it. I didn't see nothing wrong with the gore of the beast in the book. I grew up with this one book full of stories and tales. One of the stories was  about these 3 little goats and a wolf that came along and ate one or all 3 of the goats, can't remember. But someone came along and cut the wolf into and the little goat(s) lived. Same thing that happens in this story. Its all in what you think your child can handle. The one I was more worried about hearing the story was my 4 year old, and she liked it better than the older girls.
