What could make a spirit fall from Arcadia, defy his creator and turn his back on his spiritual companions? Shayan, the Oracle of Humanity, has done the unthinkable. Learn what ails Shayan and has led to his evil descent into darkness. Shayan's quest to rule the world has prompted the inevitability of many of the world’s most horrific and historical disasters.

My Take…

This prequel tells the story of Shayan’s fall from being an Oracle over Humanity. Shayan started out with the best of intentions, but somewhere along the way he lost his way. He truly wanted to help humans find their way to the Land of the Shawdowless, but lost sight of what really mattered and let power and pride get in the way. Take a journey as Hala portrays a story of a fallen one to the future guardians. What role did Shayan have in key points in history? Did Shayan ever find his way home or did power prove to be too much?
I like how the author used pivotal moments in history in her story to show what role her character played in causing such horrible acts on mankind. It was neat to think someone supernatural being the mastermind behind the assignation of JFK or even the death of John Carver back in the 1600’s. I did get a little uncomfortable when 9/11 was brought up. I guess it is still a little fresh on my mind to be used in a story like that. But all in all a good, quick read that I am sure is bringing lots of insight and background to the next books in the series.
