Say What? My pet peeves dealing with Amazon & Trolls

Ok, I have a pet peeve...a really big pet peeve. Well actually I have 2 pet peeves. Wanna know what they are? It is the trolls on Amazon that go through and click the 'no' button when it asks if this review was helpful. I am not saying everyone has to like my reviews. Heck, even I hated my first reviews I ever did and some of the ones in between. They sound corny and silly at times. But I just wish some people would man up and comment on my reviews. Let me know why it wasn't helpful. Let me know what you didn't like about it. Is that too much to ask?
Then the other pet peeve I have is when people rate books that they never finish. It irks me to no end. I even made a facebook rant the other day about it and I loved hearing your feed back.

So I want to know what your thoughts are on Amazon's little 'Was this review helpful?' buttons or trolls who rate books that they never even finished.

  1. I agree with you. I don't really think it's fair to rate a book you didn't finish. I can understand writing a little mini review about why you didn't finish it (though I don't do it myself and don't think it's really fair) but rating it isn't fair at all.
I don't think I've had a bad experience with people marking my reviews as not helpful though. Or I don't know about it at least.

  2. I agree with the "not helpful" thing - sometimes I'll wonder why not and how can I make it better?

It doesn't happen often, but I do rate books I didn't finish. It is rare for me to not finish, and if it was so bad I couldn't FORCE myself to keep reading I think that's a valid complaint. Also, if other people couldn't finish a book because it was bad (for whatever reason), I want to know so that I can make an informed decision about whether or not I want to purchase the book. I actually consider them to be helpful - if you purchased a book you don't want to finish (and get your money's worth) that makes a statement to me.

*ducks and runs off to hide* :)

  3. It's annoying! They should take that button away and give us back the like button for the books we love! hmm!
