Title: LIVE FOR YOU
Author: Marquita Valentine

NA Read
goodreads...
On the surface, twenty-two year old Cole Morgan
is exactly what any girl would be proud to take home to meet her parents: He’s
charming, intensely handsome and goal-oriented...Only he has some secrets of
his own, which include provoking bar fights and a former drug-addict of a
mother slowly wasting away in a medical facility.
At barely twenty, Violet Lynn is Country Music's
hottest star, until one night of partying gets out of control. Violet ends up
in jail and on TMZ. Suddenly, she’s the girl least likely to be invited
anywhere. Sick of the drama and keeping secrets, she runs away from the prying
eyes of the paparazzi to her grandmother’s home in Forrestville, North
Carolina.
A chance meeting knocks Cole off his feet, but he
doesn’t recognize Violet for who she is. In fact no one does and Violet plans
to keep it that way.
Circumstances, however annoying, keep throwing
Violet and Cole together. Unable to stop themselves they give into the
inevitable.
But when Nashville is ready to forgive and
forget, Violet is forced to choose between Cole and claiming her spot as the
new and improved Princess of Country Music.
Will Violet and Cole have the courage to live for
their dreams...Or their hearts?
My take...
I really, really liked this story. LIVE FOR YOU
is just another NA book I can add to my shelves of books I adore. Other than
one part that through me off I didn't find a thing wrong with it. Yes, at one part a girl said she knew
Viloet's secret. But in the end not even her parents or the press knew. So I
was wondering how that girl did. Other than that, I enjoyed the story and loved
the characters.
Ok, I take that back. The ending bugged me a bit.
Not much, it just seemed too short. Like BAM! And it was over. The only thing I
can think is that since Valentine has this as a series on goodreads I am hoping
for Parker's story next. Then we will see more of Cole and Violet. Because
there is some unanswered parts that need resolving. So I am pretty confident
that we will get those answers as the series continues.
Throughout the story, the author would flip flop
between Cole and Viloet's POV. That was great since both characters are not
perfect by any means and they have a lot to say. They both have gone through so
much in their young lives and each have the weight of the world on their
shoulders. But I loved watching them fall apart for each other and fall in
love. It was like they were drawn to each other and made for each other. Just
so sweet...yet not. Like I said. Neither are perfect and both have a heck of a
lot of skeletons spilling out of their closets so it will not be an easy road
for them.
LIVE FOR YOU is a great story. I look forward to
more of the series and will recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is
loving the NA genre as much as me. I just can't seem to get enough of chick lit
and this age group. So please pick up LIVE FOR YOU and let me know what you
thought.

About
the Author
Nationally Bestselling
Author, Marquita Valentine, writes small town romances that are anything but
small. Lisa Kleypas, Carly Phillips and Rachel Gibson are her favorite
contemporary authors. Marquita met her husband aka Hot Builder at Sonic when
they were in high school. She suggests this location to all of her single
friends in search of a good man -- and if that doesn't work, they can console
themselves with cheesy tatertots. She lives in North Carolina in a very, very
small town with Hot Builder and their two children.

Great review. I agree with the ending. There was nothing wrong with it. I would have liked a little more though, maybe seen Violet Rae play at the bar of a confrontation with J. I totally agree and hope that Parker gets a book to - this is the perfect book to develop into a series similar to Alyssa Rose Ivy's Clayton Falls or Bethany Lopez's Friends and Lovers where you get to read each person's story yet fell like all the characters are part of the book and involved.
ReplyDeletePlease forgive my typos - I am was in too much of a hurry.
