Review: IS LOVE ENOUGH by Marisa Adams

Title: IS LOVE ENOUGH

goodreads...
Love is a powerful thing; but, sometimes, love isn't enough. At least, that's what Rebekah Thomas believes. In her younger, more naive days, Rebekah thought love could conquer all; that was before the death of her husband, and high school sweetheart. Now she believes life is easier without it.

Ever the romantic at heart, a failed marriage and cinema glitter is not enough to stop famous actor Jason Taylor from believing the right woman for him is out there somewhere. Tired of his undeserved playboy reputation, he unexpectedly finds the forever kind of love miles away, with a small town teacher.

Rebekah and Jason could bridge their different worlds together, but this sweet and compassionate teacher has trouble letting him in. Just as she is convinced they could have a chance, one moment threatens to destroy everything they have built. Can Rebekah finally see the truth - that sometimes, love is all you need?

My take…
While in New York at a teacher’s conference, Rebekah stumbles upon famous daytime actor, Jason Taylor. The attraction between the two is instant and the feelings that overtake them is unlike any the two have ever felt before. But with hundreds of miles between them and lives that don’t exactly follow the same social circles...they have to ask themselves…is love enough? Or will the factors stacking up against them at every turn do the young couple in before love has a chance to be had?
I am not a fan of the instant-love-at-first-glance unless there is some real emotion put into it. I want to feel what they characters are feeling and know that it could be real. But Adams did a great job making me believe these two had what it takes. The story of these two characters working for a future of Happily Ever After wasn’t easy. They had to face several obstacles in order to be together; including being hundreds of miles apart and an ex that was hell bent on winning Jason’s love back.
I had a couple quirks with the book. One was that a lot of what went on was too sugary sweet and sappy at times. Now this can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what the reader is in the mood for. Sometimes too much sweetness can make the story unrealistic. And sometimes, a reader is having such a bad day that they need that sappy to help them feel whole again. I was on the fence while reading it. There were times I wanted to roll my eyes at some of the stuff being said and other times I thought were very swoon worthy.
Another quirk I had about the book was the way it was written. I am not sure what you call this writing style…but I just do not like it when they book is written through so many different POV’s without being separated. In one paragraph I got the POV of 2 different characters and that had me going back to reread the sentences again. So, Adam’s writing was a bit confusing at times. If you are going to write several POV’s I find it is easier to separate them by giving them their own chapters.
But with that being said, I enjoyed it and thought it was perfect for my day of reading. I climbed into bed and enjoyed what the book had to offer: loving & sweet Main Characters, a storyline that held my interest, and great secondary characters that anyone would love to have as friends. IS LOVE ENOUGH is a quick read that will leave you smiling. I recommend it to anyone who loves a sweet, clean, romantic read.
