Love is best served on the rocks.
My roommates look really good naked. At least one of them does. I’m sure the other one does too, but I haven’t seen him without his pants on. Living with two guys wasn't something I’d ever considered, but the opportunity fell in my lap, and I’d have been crazy to turn it down.
College went by in a great big blur leaving me with less of a direction than I had going in. Add in a family that wanted nothing to do with me, and my post-college plans were less than clear. What’s a girl to do when she has nowhere else to turn? She moves to the Outer Banks and learns to bartend. After all, it was my horrible bartending skills that led me to my roommate’s bed and into his heart.
Carly has recently graduated college and is hitting up her brother, Collin, for a place to stay for the time being. Not sure what she wants to do with her life, she thinks the best place to decide is with him. He has always stood behind her when it comes to their sister and parents. But when a job at The Grille and a place to live falls into her lap, she jumps at the chance to take it. Only problem is...she has feelings for one of her roommates. And he just wants her for a "Wing Woman" while on the prowl.
As always with one of Ivy's books, I fell right into the story and was immediately hooked. It is hard not to get attached with such great characters. I loved that it was about Macon this time and I found him simply irresistible. Although with the ending we got in this one...I think Brody may blow this book and the first out of the water. It is just a feeling I have. (At least it better be Brody’s turn…who else would it be, right?)
Like I said, Macon is completely irresistible, you can’t help but gravitate towards him. All the girls do. So it was easy to see that Carly did as well. She is in a tough spot in her life. But with a little help from Macon and Brody she starts to come out of it, gaining a bit more confidence in the meantime. I really did like her and glad we got to hear her story. She is fun and can be feisty. But I love her attitude the most. Especially when she is with Macon. They bring out the best in each other.
One of the best parts of the book was that Maddy and Collin's story didn't end in the last book. Oh no! So much goes on in this book that has to do with them. And it will have you smiling the entire time.
Another thing that I loved about this book was that there wasn't that All or Nothing moment in the story. Not really. There wasn't something that said they had to make a crucial decision or life as they know it would cease to exist. Yes, I actually breathed a sigh of relief. So many times, books have those moments and you just want to say "why?" Why can't there be minor problems that don't have characters hanging on the edge of destruction. Not everything has to be a fight to live.
ON THE ROCKS is a fabulous, quick, hot read! From the start you feel the chemistry between Carly and Macon and it only gets stronger as time passes. I look forward to more from this series and of course anything Ivy wants to dish out. 5 I Loved It Stars!
