Summer Author Promo Blitz: H.A. Lamb #Giveaway #blitz14

*What would you be doing right now if you were not an author?
Well, that is a hard one. It is kind of like saying what would I being doing if I wasn't a mom, or married. It is hard for me to picture myself doing anything but this. Now, in an alternate universe I might have been a world traveler, or a criminal, or the president of the universe.... But I like my life. It has had adventure, and thrills. Being an author is so much a part of that. But for me it isn't something I promote and tell everyone. It is something that I hold close to my heart. It is a deeply emotional, secretive part of who I am. So I just couldn't imagine myself not being who I am.

*5 years ago: what were you doing?
I was giving birth to my third kid, Samantha (grateful she wasn't a multiple like her sisters). And living in Alaska. I loved it there. It is a truly breath taking place. It isn't just the scenery that makes it such an amazing place, it is the hearts and souls of all the individuals who live there. I have learned from being there to never take for granted things that so many people do, and the value of patience when an item is done right, you won't have to do it again. We lived in a place (But that thanks to ridiculous shows, and families, IE the Kilcher family that portray otherwise) that did have basic necessities. We had a McDonald's and a grocery store. Three banks. But Walmart was two and a half hour drive one way, and Costco was 4 and a half.... children's clothing was treasured there, and you learned the value of thrift store shopping. Yes, gas would get up to 5 dollars a gallon, and not a lot of 'franchise' fast foods, but I loved the ma and pa restaurants... To this day I would give anything for a scone from Two Sister's Bakery, a slice of pizza from Fat Olives, and a day just to browse through the knick knacks in Blackberry Bog.
*Do you have a certain writing ritual?
Procrastinate, and then become a mad woman as I dash to finish. I actually had to take some time off of writing due to a recent surgery, but come august I will be doing it again! :)
*What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author?
My father. He has been known to read my writing and with his red pen mark how terrible it is. One piece in particular, he wrote "This is CRAP" on the front page. I knew that I if I could make him proud, and myself, then it wouldn't matter what the world said.
*Ever fangirled over another author? Who was it?
I went to school with Amber Argyle, and she was a blast. I have met Denise Grover Swank, Trisha Zieghorn, (both amazing authors) and was fairly leveled headed (I hope anyway)...
*Is there an author you'd like to meet?
I would love to meet Belle Whittington or Candace Bowen one day. And would probably faint if I ever met J. K. Rowling, George R. R. Martin, or R. L. Stine.
*Biggest writing pet peeve?
I don't think I am a grammar nazi, in fact I know I am not. My husband is. But, my BIGGEST pet peeve are people writing single letters for words... or numbers in words. Basically if you have seen Weird Al's Word Crimes, all of the items he stated have bugged me at one point or another.
* Do you read other's reviews of your books?
Yes, I will, but not until my husband has read them. He is kind of my cushion or barrier for my 'blow'.

Fun Five:
Fav Color
Purple. But I wear a lot of Gray and Black. If my daughter Samantha had any say in it, it would be red. She is strongly opinionated for a 5 year old.

Fictional Character you'd like to spend the day with?
I have so many of my own characters in my head, I feel like a spend all my time with them and my kids. And I can't just choose one, but I will say the first "crush/hero" was the fawn from "The Fawn and the Woodcutter's Daughter".

Fav food
Pizza and Mexican. My family likes Sushi and Chinese, so I rarely get those! And Blueberries on top of cheesecake!! YUM!

Fav song and/or singer
I am one of those people who are guilty of maxing out their iPod because of the amount of music they have, and can't really live without. I love everything from Jack Johnson, to P!nk, to Kiss, and Bach.

Guilty pleasure
Reading. :) I am such a reader that I can usually finish a book within a day. Oh, and recently Disc Golf.

"You killed him!" Ella screeched. "You killed him! If you had only loved him enough, he wouldn't have died."
"Ella, please sit down in front of the fire, now."
"What are those called? The black, yucky aftermath of the fire?"
"Cinders?" I said calmly. "I am sorry, Ella, about—"
"No!" She yelled, interrupting me again. "You will never, ever call me that again!" Tears streamed down her face. "You are the reason that my mother and father are dead! You are a curse to anyone and everyone who knows you! You are evil! It shows on your face!" Her breath was shaking then. "You will call me Cinders, because that is all that is left of me, since you destroyed it all."
Before Cinderella meets the prince, before she loses her glass slipper, before the happily ever after, there was the stepmother.
Thrown into a forced marriage, she is haunted by her past, by her love for another man, and by her inability to hope for her own happily ever after. So much happened before the ball. So much happened Behind the Lace.

Have you ever felt that your body wasn't your own? That the very skin you are in was like being forced into a shell that was so tight, and confiding that it was suffocating? Add no matter what you did, it wouldn't come off? What measures would you go to in order to find relief?
Samuel learns that magical creatures aren't extinct as we are lead to believe, but disguised in a skin that doesn't fit. If he exposes their secret, it would surely be the death of them. If that wasn't enough, he is capable of controlling the element that is keeping them in these disguises, a dangerous ability. And he is the only one who has the power to free them. But at what cost? What will happen if they are freed? Who will prevent them from being hunted to extinction?
Engage in this book of sorcery, secrets and most importantly hope. Hope that tomorrow, we won't judge a book by its cover or humans by their shells... their body.
