goodreads...

Romance and zombies collide in the riveting sequel to Love in the Time of the Dead.

Four years into the Dead outbreak that ended the world, Vanessa Summers has been so burned by love, she swears she will never trust a man again. But Sean Daniels, guard leader of Dead Run River, isn’t just any man. When past lovers return to the colony, things get complicated. Desperate to rid herself of the heartache, Vanessa signs up for a supply run that will test her mettle as a guard in training. Sean volunteers to lead her team, and his hungry looks say it’s more personal than professional.

Danger comes from all sides as they scavenge Dead-infested cities, and as her attraction for Sean deepens, Vanessa finds her head and heart at war with each other. He clouds her judgment, and the slightest misstep could spell disaster outside of the safety of colony gates.

A race back to Dead Run River could save a teammate’s life, but trouble has been brewing back home. Laney Landry, the woman who broke Sean’s heart, is in trouble, and Vanessa must decide whether to take back the Denver colony beside the man she’s falling in love with, or bow out of an attraction that terrifies her.

My take...

When I first wrote my review I did so on my nook color on a memo app. I didn't have my laptop on me while on vacation so I jotted down a stellar review (if I must say so) after coming fresh off the book and battling my intense emotions from this freaking amazing read. But when I got home from vaca my nook quickly connected to wifi and ended up deleting my reviews after an update.

This book starts off right where LOVE IN THE TIME OF THE DEAD ended. And this time we get two different POVs. We get the take on two people who are probably not ready to see Mitchell or Laney so soon. Two people that have their reasons. But fans of Laney can rest easy though, she has quite a bit screen time in this one still. Something huge happens towards the end that will take the story in a completely different direction. And I was so shocked, yet happy, with how it all went down. In fact, let’s go with blown away. Yeah, that sounds about right.

I have got to say I was more thrilled with Sean this time around than I was in the first book. I loved how his character had softened somewhat and how he was soon becoming attracted to Vanessa. And even though she can be a hard person to be around, she was a great character to read about. I enjoyed her sense of humor and understood where she was coming from where Laney was involved. I am not saying I am siding with her, because I ain't. But I understand her from a woman’s perspective. We all like to have somewhere to focus are jealousy on. And I like to think that Laney understood it too. You’ll see as you read the book.

If you have read book one, I wholeheartedly suggest you pick up this one and finish out the series. I can almost guarantee you are going to love this one. I flew through this one while in the car headed towards our vacation…and after I was finished I still craved more. I still had these people on my mind and wished I hadn’t finished it so quickly. I still wanted to pick up my nook and read more about them. That is how I knew it was a great book. I kept thinking back on it long after it was done.

5 Zombie-licious Stars!
