When I
create characters I never start with a photo or image. I have a vague vision of
them in my head. Over the course of the first fifty pages of the book, their
image becomes more and more solid. It’s weird when I randomly see someone who
looks like the image I created in my head. “He’s Xander,” I yelled when I saw
Josh Holloway in a Davidoff Cool Water advertisement.
