Goodreads…

I hang my head in sorrow for just a moment when I know I am truly alone. I feel like I’m going to my execution, just as he had said. Then I move forward again. I hop a fence of fieldstone and cross a field dotted with Queen Anne’s lace. Goose bumps rise on my arms as I pass the cluster of windmills that I have seen in a dream. The scent is sweet in the field though, not the scent of heat, like it had been when it was forced upon me in visions. I gaze down the hill, beyond the small, whitewashed house that I knew would be there. The church looms dark and grim with its rough-hewn, timber façade, capped by tall, oblong spires reaching to the sky. Black, ominous clouds have collected above the roofline, as if Heaven is showing me the way.

My take…

“I’m here, Evie,” Reed says, using his sexy voice. “The current is shifting-can you feel it? It’s bringing you back to me. Hold on to the thread, love. Don’t let go,” he says with a sultry tone that makes me want to do anything for him.
***

For about half this book I kept wondering how Evie could succumb so easily to Brennus and his fellas. How could she fall for him and “his protection” but not listen to Reed when he claimed he wanted to protect her as well? I was truly questioning if I ever really knew her at all. Does Reed even know her?

Then with the last half I realized I had actually fallen for bad guy, Brennus, just as much as if I was under his thrall. You guys! I really like him. Like Team Brennus-Gotta ship Brenvie to the max-like him. What is this witchery? How did this happen? But I actually believe he cares for Evie and loves her. And I am not sure I was ready for Reed to save her just yet. I was really enjoying their time together.

All in all it felt like Evie really seemed to care for him and his family of Gancanagh. Maybe it's all a sham to get away from him. I don't know though. Doesn’t feel like it. It all felt genuine.

Another great book to add to this amazing series. I am inhaling every word and loving every bit of it. 5 Stars!
