Goodreads...

A devastating tornado strikes the small town of Dalton, Illinois. As the residents start to clear the tangled wreckage, a human skeleton is found chained to a bed—raising the questions of who and why.

Rookie police officer Darby Hewlett has been a member of the Dalton Police Department for only one week, and she’s tasked with the arduous chore of solving this mystery.

As her investigation unfolds, Darby discovers that her seemingly quaint town is full of suspects harboring secrets.

My take...

I usually don’t read much in the murder mystery genre. But when McCrimmon told me how she paired up with her talented husband and wrote that very kind of story, I knew I had to read A BED OF BONES. And I was throughly impressed. You still get that amazing McCrimmon vibe, but the story itself is just more with the addition of her husband, Chris.

As the story unfolds, several people of interest are introduced. I had my suspicions about a couple, and some seemed to perfectly fit the bill of the killer. But I wrote them off knowing it was too good to be true. I love when a great book gets you to questioning everyone; no one is safe from accusation.

What tore at me was the flashbacks to the girl found chained on the bed. Even though I knew how her story ended, I still held a spark of hope that maybe some how her ending would miraculously change. It was utterly heartbreaking.

A BED OF BONES gets all the stars!! And possibly a second book? What? 5 Stars!!
