goodreads...
Ever since high school, Kayla has been crazy for gorgeous football player Talon. But before she could muster the courage to tell him, he became a hot item with her beautiful BFF, Reagan. The only person who knows Kayla’s secret is Wesley, Talon’s best bud—and he’s got it bad for Reagan. Now they’re all in college together, hanging out 24/7. For Kayla, seeing the two lovebirds together is absolutely unbearable. So Kayla and Wesley hatch a plot to drive them apart before Talon has a chance to give Reagan the Christmas gift she’s been waiting for.

Soon enough, the once happy couple is fighting. Reagan suddenly can’t get enough of Wesley’s goofy sense of humor, and Talon seems to be paying more attention to Kayla than a guy who’s “only a friend” ever should. But just when everything seems to be falling into place, Kayla and Wesley accidentally spend a night together and discover a hitch in their plan they never considered: that switching partners may not lead to a perfect ending after all.

My take...
I read this book solely based on a recommendation by Rachel Higginson. Well, that and the fact that it sounded so good. And I was so, so glad I picked it up. Because it was good, and cute, and sweet, and funny, and I really, really like Mae's writing style. She is one heck of a witty gal and in some ways it reminds me of Higginson's. So thank you Rachel for the rec!

Now, that being said, let us talk about the book and the fun storyline. Kayla likes Talon who is dating her BFF Reagan, and then there is Wesley who likes Reagan. After a night of feeling sorry for themselves, Wesley and Kayla mastermind a plan to break the lovely couple up. Only problem is the plan may work a little too well.

Yes, the book was so funny and my heart absolutely melted. But the weird thing is, the heart melting for me didn't happen until the last half of the book. I was surprised that I didn't see the stirring between Wesley and Kayla until then. Sure, you see the flicker of something every now and then. But the big clues didn't make themselves known until much later. I really was expecting something major to happen sooner. But I found in the end I really like how it all played out.

It is hard not to like Kayla. Even if she is trying to ruin her BFF's relationship and steal her boyfriend. *lol* But trust me, she really isn't all that bad. In fact, she is doing this because she loves her and knows that everyone will be much happier in the end. At least that is what she is telling herself. And the more I got to know Wesley, the more and more I loved him. His character is such a butt, but in a good way. He is so awkwardly sexy. Yeah, let’s go with that. Because he really is. There is really no other way to explain him.

SWITCHED is a fun, adorable story that I absolutely recommend to anyone who enjoys clean’ish NA reads. (There is talk and mentioning of sex, but nothing graphic.) I plan to check out more and more of Mae's work now. 5 Awkwardly Romantic Stars!
