5*Review: THE SEVENTH DAY by Tara Brown

Title: The Seventh Day

From the window I can see her. She looks like she did yesterday. Same Clothes. Same Hair. But today her face is calm, dead calm. All their faces are dead calm until one of us makes a noise. The noise wakes them and then it starts. Their heads jerk to the right three times rapidly as they stand in the most awkward way. That's when we run. That's when we hide. That's how we stay alive until The Seventh Day! Silence is survival!

My take...

He lifts a hand to my arm, brushing against my jacket. “ Hey, even if your dad isn’t there, I just want you to know everything will be okay, Lou. I’ll always keep you safe. The rest of the world might fall away into chaos but as long as we stay together, we’ll be safe.”

I was on the hunt for another great zombie read. I had already delved into another one, even made it nearly halfway in and I just had to quit. It just wasn't what I was needing or wanting. So I needed something to remove all that I had just read and remind me why I love the zombie genre. I definitely found that in THE SEVENTH DAY.

This book was just what my little zombie loving heart was in search of. It held suspense, a little romance, and uniqueness. For a majority of the book I was on the edge of my seat (figuratively speaking of course) gripped with fear of the biters. I seriously bit what little I had left of my nails down to the quick due to the intensity of the story. It was fantastic being a constant state of fear through most of the book.

I loved what romance there was. Sure there was some pining away at one of the male characters. You know, the bff’s older brother that she had been in love with for years with hopes that he would see her more than a sister or young girl. But towards the end is where the romance picks up and takes off. Sweet, adoring romance. I loved it. Will Lou get her man?

But the best part was the zombies, the biters. They did this crazy 3 tick of the head at the slightest sound and then would take off for their next victim. Then they would do more stuff that I will not go into. They just get more and more interesting as the story unfolds leaving everyone with questions they may not get the answers to.

I look forward to reading the next one in the series to see what happens next. With the way it all ended, we get a false sense of safety so anything could happen. 5 Stars!
