Seventeen-year-old Reagan seems like the perfect small-town girl. Dubbed a saint by her older brother, Lincoln, she serves the community, makes straight A’s, attends church, spends her summers working with special needs children, and is a piano playing prodigy. When you’re the daughter of the mayor and the police chief in a sleepy Kansas town, toeing the line is easier than the alternative. That is, until her brother’s best friend changes the rules. Reagan’s been subject to Ridley’s antics her entire life. Growing up, he tormented and teased her, but he kept his distance—until now. When Ridley breaks a promise, late night phone calls and secret rendezvous in the haystacks quickly transform into a reckless, all-consuming love. Some promises are meant to be broken. Some secrets will not be contained, and sometimes the consequences we render are more than we can bear.

“What do you want from me?” I ask.
“I want you to tell me you’ve never thought about being with me, and that this whole thing is ridiculous, so we can go back to being Raygun and Really Gross.”

My forehead falls against his chest, my lips trembling with suppressed laughter. “I wish I could do that, but I can’t.” His muscles tense under my fingertips. “I think about you all the time, too.”

Easily my favorite read this year. I knew I would love it, how could I not with the fabulous writing duo behind so many already great reads, but I ended up loving it much, much more than I thought possible. LOVE IN C MINOR was just a fascinating story following two amazing people as they fight their feelings and try to resist one another. Easier said than done with a pull so strong and a chemistry so deep between these two.

My emotions were all over the place when it came to Ridley and Reagan. Don’t get me wrong...I loved that aspect of it. I liked the whole roller coaster/ angsty/ what the heck just happened/ what the heck is going to happen feel. This story spoke to me and it took me back to my past. Lots of good times growing up on those back roads. Seriously. Field parties, muddin' and Friday night football games. These authors sure know how to spark some memories in a reader with just a few words.

But can we stop for just one moment to appreciate all things Ridley? A reformed player, all thanks to his feelings for Reagan, you can tell he adores her to no end, all in the way that he is with her and the things he says. Swoon. Sigh. Swoon a little more.

Ridley finds my my forearm and tugs, pulling my clasped hands apart. Our fingers easily intertwine. I peer down at our hands resting on the console. So nonchalant. They don’t even realize what this moment means.
“I hope this is okay. I couldn’t not touch you.”

See??? Swoon.

One of the many things I loved about this book, was the repairing of a brother and sister relationship. Linc and Reagan have a lot to work through to get back to being close siblings like they once were. It won’t be easy and it won’t be over night, but the best part was watching it happen.

70% in, I realized I had this horrible sinking feeling that had been building throughout the book that something bad was going to happen. Thankfully it wasn’t at all what I was envisioning, but it ended up being bad. So bad. I am honestly waiting with bated breath for part 2. July needs to hurry up and get here.

Intense, charming, and passionate...this book held me captive at every moment. Putting it down was a hard test for me, but there was also the not rushing to end it just yet. I knew with every turn of the page, my time was growing shorter with these characters and I didn't want it to end. I wanted to keep hearing Ridley speak his sweet words to Reagan. I wanted to see Reagan work through her fears and trust in Ridley to be there. I wanted to see Linc get his life together on his terms. I loved this book and it tore at me in such a wonderful, terrifying way. 5 Stars (but in my head a beautiful 10)!!

We're pretty awesome! We both write books. We both live in the Carolina's (Mindy in South, Michele in North). We like singing in the car, eating white cheddar popcorn, and going on road trips together. You'll find us sharing a table at a few book signings each year. We have a love of romance, New York, anything sweet, and great books. Together we've written four novels and one novella, with many more in the works. We’re currently working on the Backroads Duet.
