Top 10 with Author Beth Balmanno

Today's Top 10 is with Author Beth Balmanno.
Her book Set in Stone is out now. You can read the blurb here...
Fifteen year-old Valerie is used to losing things–she lost her dad to his job ages ago and her best friend moved with no warning...and hasn't been heard from since. During a weekend camping trip with her emotionally distant parents, she stumbles upon a hidden, mysterious stone and she finds herself desperate to keep it, to possess it. Two strange and beautiful boys have other plans, however. They follow her home–Leo, warm and seductive, who covets the stone and will stop at nothing to get it; and Noel, dark-haired and wise, who pledges to protect her and keep her safe.

As she delves deeper into the magic of the stone and the Celtic lore that surrounds it, Valerie realizes that she's losing. Again. But this loss might involve more than a magical stone – this time, she just might lose her heart.

1. guilty pleasure? Sees milk chocolate balls. I hoard them. None of my kids know where my secret stash is, much to their dismay.
2. 1 book you could read over and over? Ack -- just one? I have a whole slew of comfort books that I turn to. Everything from classics (Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre) to general fiction (The Shell Seekers, Liquid Smoke) to young adult (Wicked Lovely, The Outsiders, Twilight).
3. fictional character you would love to spend the day with? The monster from Frankenstein. Is there a character more maligned in literature? He started off full of love and devotion, wanting to be accepted, to belong. And what happened? His father and society shunned him and created a monster. Know what I would do? I'd wrap him in a big 'ole hug. And give him some of my chocolate balls.
4. one thing you cannot leave the house without? My phone. My significant other lives 960 miles away (not like I've counted or anything...) so our phones are our lifelines. Texts, phone calls, face time -- whatever we can do to stay connected.

5. fav song/singer? The first concert I ever went to was U2. I was 14, and I went with an 18 year-old friend-who-really-had-a-crush-on-me-but-I-didn't-know-it. And the music was loud and the crowds were insane and I think we all left the arena with a little bit of Bono coursing through our blood. To this day, I hear "All I Want Is You" and I feel like leaping on the nearest available stage. Or at least singing along. Loudly.
6. hobby? Traveling. Writing. Volunteering. I've threatened to have the word "no" tattooed to my forehead because I always forget how to say it when someone asks me to help with something.
7. fave movie/actor and or/actress? Ethan Hawke. *swoon* Good lord, did I have a massive crush on that man (and yes, I almost vomited when he married Uma Thurman). Needless to say, she is not my favorite actress.
8. one place you would love to visit? Again -- just one??? My ultimate dream is to move into an RV and just travel around the country, visiting every podunk town and big city I stumble upon. And then, when I've exhausted the US, I'll get a boat (that miraculously won't make me seasick) and travel to Europe...and Africa...and South America...and...

9. fav food? Hmm. Probably Chinese. The restaurant in Set in Stone is a real place in Alexandria and has the hands-down best Chinese food I've ever eaten. House of Dynasty. It's road-trip worthy.
10. fav color? It's a photo-finish between green and brown. I love earthy colors.
LOL!! The Monster from Frankenstein? That is definitely a first. And you also have made me hungry for Chinese food now. Thanks!
