Eli and Clara's story continues as she
tries to finish high school. Eli is as over protective as ever and Tate and his
group of friends are no help. They wait for the Horde, always looking over
their shoulder. But the ever annoying but strangely prophetic bird begins to
become more of a chatter box and Eli learns something that could change some
things. Not just for him and Clara, but Devourers everywhere.
Then an unexpectedness guest comes forcing Eli to flee with Clara, leaving her temporary family behind. She is thrown into his world of underground 'traitors' and learns much of his past. They meet many new people and creatures along the way to freedom. But when tragedy strikes the two, will Clara see the monster in Eli? Can she handle his strange world and awful past? Will one of them lose their life forever...

My take...
Clara was hoping that she would be able to
finish the last few weeks of school unscathed and under the Horde’s radar. But
when a blast from Eli’s past shows up, they know what they have to do…go on the
run. After using persuasion on Mrs. Ruth, Eli sets off with Clara with one
thing in mind…he must keep her safe.
Once on the road, Clara is faced with
headaches and blackouts. And for once when Clara looks in Eli’s face she knows
that whatever is causing them is not good. Will making it to The Wall in search
of answers help Clara or put her life in more jeopardy? Will they even make it
to The Wall in time?
When I gave my review of Devour I didn't go
into much detail about the gist of the story...for fear of giving too much
away. But if you are sitting at your computer reading this, then hopefully you
have read Devour already and know what it's about.
I was shocked to see that Shelly was only
making this a 2 book series, unlike her other series' that are at least 4
books. And I just knew there was no way she could finish Eli and Clara's story
in just one more book, there was no stinkin way! But I was proved wrong, oh so
wrong. Could their story have continued one? Of course. Was it a good and
fitting ending? Most definitely! Consume did just that…it consumed me. *cliché
I know* I eagerly absorbed every word, every sentence. It was a fabulous read
that had me sitting on the edge of my seat, soaking up the romance, the
suspense, and the mystery.
Shelly’s men, oh yes, her men are fabulous;
the stuff of legends. Are there really guys like Eli out there, anywhere? Every
word out of his mouth makes me melt like butter. My favorite Shelly Man is
Merrick from Collide. But as I told Shelly via twitter…Eli is giving Merrick
some serious competition.
Consume, Consume, Consume…oh what fabulous
book you are; oh the things you’ve done to me. Pick up Consume and let Eli
devour you! Cause this is one journey you will not want to miss out on.
Great review Mandy.

DeleteThanks for the review! I had no idea this book was out until I saw it here! Just one more reason to follow this blog ;-) My favorite "Shelly man" is Caleb from "Significance" but Eli runs a close second.
ReplyDeleteI love me some Caleb too...but Merrick was my first 'Shelly Man' to read and he stole my heart.
Deletegoing to read this ASAP! I love Eli. ;)
