RELEASE Blog Tour {Review & Give@way}

Title: RELEASE

Author: M.R. Merrick

Source: ebook from author

goodreads...
After uniting the shifters and calling in reinforcements, Chase has to face his toughest challenge yet: learning to control his emotions. But as tensions rise and his powers grow, controlling his emotions becomes the least of his problems.

Terrorized by a multi-shifter who is hell-bent on turning him, Chase questions just how far he’s willing to go to stop his father. Meanwhile, Tiki’s virtuous nature has placed him in the middle of Vincent’s past, leaving Chase to oppose a senate of vampires and defend a demon he hates.

Trying to balance his friends, his enemies, and his inner demons, Chase is left searching for answers about the Mark, his destiny, and where he can find the next soul piece. Stopping Riley is his top priority, but as more obstacles arise, he finds himself doubting all the decisions he’s made - especially regarding Rayna.

One thing is for certain: Chase has finally realized that he doesn’t know anything. The light doesn’t always quell the darkness, the monsters don’t always stay in the shadows, and the past doesn’t always stay in the past - sometimes, the demons inside are the hardest to fight.

My take...
Merrick!! Don’t know how you do it…but you did it…and with each book the series just gets better and better. All of your characters absolutely exploded (that’s a good thing) in this one and we get so much more of them it seems. Rayna…love her more and would love my girls to grow up just like her. Well, just minus the fur. But really, the girl is fierce, confident, brave and bold. Again, I say…LOVE her. And to mention all the history we learn about Tiki and Vincent and sweet Willy…all pulled together makes this one powerful book.

Right from the start of RELEASE I hated someone...Eric. I was so sick of his attitude and the book had barely even started. He is vile and ugly and I just didn't like him. But who comes in and teaches him a lesson? Only one of my most favorite people in this series…Grams! I won't say what happens, but just know she is awesome. #TeamGrams

With each book of the series we see Chase's character grow and develop more and more. Who once started out as an arrogant teen, hell bent on killing any demon he comes in contact with...turns out to be a great young man with new morals and beliefs. He will do just about anything for the people he loves...even if most of them are demons. And the fact that he can’t just leave Vincent to fend for himself, speaks volumes for his character. Because after all the hell that Vincent has put Chase through; no one would blame him if he did.

We also learn a new twist to the story too. Someone might have plans of his own when it comes being leader over the Underworld. This revelation only makes matters worse for Chase and his friends. And I ain’t gonna lie…the horrid things this ‘twist’ could do actually had me scared for the group. Not only do they have to watch their back when it comes to Riley, but now they have this new threat lingering in the shadows. It could be one heck of a problem for them. And as time goes on…this ‘twist’ just gets crazy out of control and more and more people end up getting hurt.

And that ending! I am in tears thinking about it. Why Merrick? Why? Again, I won’t give away the details but keep in mind…tissues will be a must. No one is safe, absolutely no one.

So there you have my jumbled mess of a review. I had all kinds of thoughts running around in my head about the book and I apologize if it came out sporadic. But I can promise you…this series rocks…and it rocks hard. I cannot believe I had waited so long to read it but ever so glad I did.

  4. I have two favorites. Dragons - they are powerful, beautiful, and in my world magical and kind. LOL My other favorites are harpies. I love the evil women luring men to their deaths. Yea - just a bit creepy, I know...
