A Post Concerning Future Review Requests Here At I Read Indie...

For the past couple of months I have been going back and forth trying to come to a decision that has been one of the hardest I have had to make. No, nothing life or death. But it is about my blog, something that I love very much. I treat my blog as if it is a paying job. I work very hard to bring you guys honest reviews and fun posts.
My struggle? Well, with my youngest now starting kindergarten, I am going to try and get a job working at my girls' school subbing. That alone will cut into my blogging/reading time immensely. So I have decided that from this point on I will only be taking review requests from authors I have worked with before.
This decision breaks my heart because I have come across so many great books from so many unknown (at the time) authors. I still want to help out up and coming Indie authors promote their books and do whatever I can get their books out there for the literary world to read. So I still want to interview you...I still want to post your guest posts...I still want to reveal your covers. I still want to do all that.
Please do not think for one second I am turning my back on Indie authors. That is so not it. I have been doing this blog for about 3 years and I still want to do it for many more In fact, when I started focusing on Indies is when I started getting the most joy out of my blog. I think I just need a breather...so it doesn't feel like all I am doing is reviewing and reviewing. People do have real lives to attend to...right? ;)

So please continue to send me requests for interviews, guest posts, reveals, promos, whatever silly thing you can think of. I will post it! And who knows…I may not cut it as a Sub. Or I may just miss my mid-morning and late afternoon naps too much. And in which case, I will make a post begging for reviews once again. You just never know with me.

Note: I still have a full schedule that I am catching up on that goes into September. I have fallen behind due to moving but I am working very hard playing catch up.

  1. I completely understand. I work full time and have so many review requests that I just can't even consider, plus tons more that I need to review, and I am bad about requesting from NetGalley and Edelweiss to. I really need to take a couple of months and do nothing but catch up, if I can make myself.

    1. I took a few months off (I think last summer) to get caught up and I did for the most part and more life ended up getting in the way. So here I am back behind for July. Oh well. I will eventually get caught up.

  2. I've been figuring out how to find the balance myself. My work is actually part of my blog so I often spend entire days 'working' and blogging and I don't get any reading done. I need to figure out how to eliminate some things. I know my reading pile just grows and grows and it's not shrinking at all.
    Good luck!
