Can two hearts be forged into one?

Cami Montgomery stole a car and smashed it into the front of a building in upscale Beverly Hills after a lousy date with the epitome of sleaze balls. The worst part, her parents are following through on threats after this latest plea for attention. Banished from her L.A. paradise and plunged into the Appalachian Mountains with her industrious aunt and uncle, Cami is about to find out how precious life really is.

Stockton Wright has been thrust into a hard life. He sacrifices everything to give his family and community what they need. He’s exhausted from life and work—and he’s only twenty four. What he needs is some change, and some sunshine. Even he will agree to that. He just doesn’t expect to find it in a stuck up, pompous, entitled Californian.

Cami bursts into Stockton’s life like wildfire, consuming all his thoughts and tangling him in her web. What starts out as a contentious rivalry evolves into a desire neither of them expected. When hammer meets metal, will they crack under pressure or be forged as one?

Cami and Stockton might just end up being exactly what the other one needs, but first their love will have to be drawn out in fire.

My take...
After being banished to Redneck Rehab with her Aunt and Uncle, Cami soon realizes she has a lot of growing up to do. But one look at Stockton and it seems life in Hickville might not be so bad. But will his ghosts be too much for Cami to compete with? This is not only Cami's journey to self-discovery...but Stockton's as well. Both have a past that need to be battled. Both have a chemistry that is undeniable. Both will find solace in one another.
I wasn't sure what to think of 2 of my favorite authors coming together and creating a story I would like, let alone love. Sure I adore their individual work. In fact, I drop everything for Lila and when Rachel releases her zombie series, well, it is an absolute must buy the minute it goes live. But will I be the same? Will I finish the book feeling full and happy like I have before with their other work? Or will it be an entirely different experience leaving me bereft and unfulfilled? Well, I rated this bad boy 5 stars...so what do you think? Alone I find these ladies awesome...together they can take over the world. Or in the very least write a fabulous love story.
The story was beyond whatever expectations I had conjuring up in my mind. And my literary taste buds were brought to fictional love overload with these fantastic characters. How could I not love them? Especially Stockton. From the very first time I was introduced to him, he was one of those guys that stayed tethered to the back of my mind. While reading other books I would find myself wondering what was to happen with him as his story progressed.
Stockton is a hardworking country boy but not exactly redneck. Not that anything is wrong with rednecks...I am related to a few ;)...but I do know that they can be a bit romantically challenged. Among other things. But our boy Stockton, oh boy. Once he gets Cami in his target he is bound and determined to romance the hell out of her. Swooning will be had ladies! But God bless his soul, his life is riddled with the ghosts of his parents and the guilt of their deaths. Cami is going to have her work cut out for her. It won’t be easy to break down the walls Stock has built up over the years. But if anyone can do it, it will be Cami.
Cami is one of those gals you will absolutely fall in love with. From the moment we meet her, it will be an instant love connection with the reader and her. She is hilarious and it just gets funnier when she is brought to her Aunt and Uncle’s place. Poor girl is thrown into the country life and if she isn’t careful it will swallow her whole. Another part of the story I loved was the relationship between her and Willa and thought it was wonderful they had such a great relationship.
There is a lot of hurt surrounding everyone, but together they can work through the pain plaguing each of their lives. This is one story you will not want to miss out on. An absolute must read!

Fav Quotes...
I loved him- with everything that I was. My tiny, black heart had grown into a living, beating organ capable of a feeling that felt greater than me, greater than anything I could be capable of.
Yet here I was, in love with a man that demanded that kind of greatness from me.
And I would willingly spend the rest of my life striving to be that kind of woman for him, to be the woman he needed, the soul-mate he searched for, the other half of his heart.
As long as he let me.
And then his cell phone rang. Hello, bad timing.

*****

And suddenly there was a gleam where once had only been soot, hope where there had been once only ashes, life when for so long all I could see was death.  There was the promise of a life for me with Cami.

And I’d be damned if I let anything get in my way.

Lila Felix made the decision to write a book after being encouraged by friends. She is a stay at home mom to three wild children and three boisterous dogs and her high school sweetheart husband encourages her daily. Between writing books, she loves to read and watch sappy 80's movies. Favorite things: ice cream, anything purple, roller derby and any kind of music she can get her hands on. If you're looking for her, try looking in the swamp, she's probably duct taping something under the shade of a Cypress tree.

Rachel Higginson was born and raised in Nebraska, but spent her college years traveling the world. She fell in love with Eastern Europe, Paris, Indian Food and the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka. But came back home to marry her high school sweetheart and now spends her days raising her big family. In those few spare moments she has, she is either reading or writing Young Adult Fiction.
