Goodreads Summary:
Elodie Rose has a secret. Any day, she’ll become a wolf and succumb to the violence that’s cursed her family for centuries. For seventeen years she’s hidden who and what she is. But now someone knows the truth and is determined to exterminate her family line. Living on borrowed time in the midst of this dangerous game of hide and seek, the last thing Elodie needs to do is fall in love. But Sawyer is determined to protect her, and the brooding, angry boy is more than what he seems. Can they outsmart a madman? And if they survive, will they find a way to beat the curse for good?

My take:
Elodie has a secret that she keeps. It has taken over her life since she was 13 when she received a letter from her mother telling her what she is. Since then her relationship with her dad becomes strained, she throws herself into her school work and makes sure she severs all ties to friendships. She believes she is cursed and has no future.

Sawyer is a werewolf with a chip on his shoulder. He is constantly angry, blaming his father for his mother's death, believing he could have prevented it. But all that changes when he meets Elodie and realizes she calms his inner beast.

Red ties in the childhood story of Little Red Riding Hood, hence the story's title. It was a very interesting story that I found hard to put down, always eager to start it back up. I enjoyed the switching of POV, being able to get inside both Elodie and Sawyer's heads. Red is another one of those books, whose characters stay with you long after you’re done. The story line was well delivered, full of romance, suspense, and mystery. I don’t think I found one thing wrong with the book. I enjoyed it so much, and would love to see a second book with Elodie and Sawyer.

  1. I've never read any retellings of Red Riding Hood. Sounds pretty good. Great review, Mandy :)
